Interim leadership is about far more than holding the fort; it is about bringing focus, pace and experience to help an organisation achieve what matters most.
After more than 30 years working in social housing, from customer facing services through to Executive, Director and Board-level roles, I have seen how quickly organisations can find themselves needing additional senior capacity.
It might be a leadership gap, a service that needs strengthening, a transformation programme that needs momentum or simply too many important priorities competing for the same leadership time. This is where I believe experienced interim support can add real value.
I begin by listening to colleagues, reviewing how services are performing and identifying what is helping or hindering delivery. From there, I work with the team to agree the priorities, clarify responsibilities and turn them into a practical plan with clear next steps.
I bring experience across housing management, property services, responsive repairs, asset investment, landlord safety and compliance, supported housing, customer services and organisational transformation. That breadth helps me see the connections between strategy, operational delivery and, most importantly, the experience of residents.
I also believe strongly that the value of interim support is not simply in identifying what needs to change, it is in helping to make that change happen.
My recent consultancy work has combined strategic design with practical implementation. It has included reviewing and implementing a new target operating model and service delivery model, establishing new teams, developing service improvement plans and redesigning key processes.
I bring an independent perspective while working closely with the people who know the organisation and its services best. By involving colleagues in shaping practical solutions, I help build the shared understanding and ownership needed to sustain improvements long after my assignment has finished.
Ultimately, I want to leave an organisation stronger than when I arrived with greater clarity, additional capacity, stronger teams and real momentum behind its priorities.
For my next interim or consultancy assignment, I am ready to help an organisation navigate change, strengthen leadership capacity and turn strategic priorities into practical, sustainable delivery.
Not simply filling a gap, but making a difference while I am there.
